I am working on a hand-sewn quilt top I received yesterday... that is, I am taking it apart and re-sewing it with the machine... and, I am not sure it is going to work at all. The fabric, or at least some of it, is NOT cotton, very slippery and fraying, and the other fabric may be cotton, but it is so thin/lightweight. I will do my best, with what I was given, and hope all works out well.

I also received a bag of 51 valentine heart blocks from another lady... these, I am going to be working on next. I have been playing a little, laying them out, and trying to come up with a plan. Most of the hearts are Red & White... I am thinking some blue sashing, making it a nice patriotic quilt. There are also some of the hearts with black backgrounds... these, I think I'll sash them with red. I am not sure of how many of the black blocks there are... I'll have to check that out before I go further with my ideas. I'll make a lay-up on my EQ5.

That's another thing, I need to upgrade to EQ6. And, my quilting buddy Judy & I want to take a class or two on working on the EQ6 computer program. There is a lot on my EQ5 that I know I am missing out on, so that means that EQ6 has even more!! I will check it out online at www.electricquilt.com, to see how much that is going to cost me. But, it will be well worth it!

OK... enough chat tonight...

It has been about a week since I posted last... I can't believe that the time has passed by so quickly!

So, in the sewing area, today, I received a PIG (Project In Grocery Sack) in the mail. It is a hand-sewn flimsie, which needs some help to become a pretty quilt for someone in need. So, I am taking it apart, row by row, and re-sewing the blocks together by machine.  It will take time & patience to complete this, but, that is fine. The fabric that was used, is not the typical 100 % cotton. But, I think it will be fine once it is redone. I will machine quilt it on my DSM. It will be donated to the cancer center when it is completed and washed.

Gina's quilt is still waiting to be layered (batting & backing). I need to call a friend before I proceed. Maybe she will machine quilt it for me on her HQ 16. That would be much easier than me trying to do it on my DSM. We'll see.

I want to get on with some spring and summer items... I need to look at some of my old magazines to get some new ideas! Then, if I don't have fabric in the stash to accommodate the need, I'll go to the quilt shop and get it.

My brother sent me some beautiful pictures of Colorado with the snow. They are absolutely breath-taking! I'll post them below for you to see. These are the views he gets to look at everyday from his windows or porches. Very nice!

OK... not much else to say tonight... Talk to you again soon!

Or, at least the quilt top is done! I am so happy about that. But, I'll really be ecstatic when it is COMPLETELY done and gone. I am ready to work on something different. Though, I haven't had a chance to get into the sewing room for a couple of days, since finishing the quilt top, so, I am not sure what I'll work on next. I want the next project to be one of my many UFO's... I think I'll work on the Sampler BOM I started about a year or so ago. I think I am down to the LAST block, then must do the borders. The reason I stopped at the last block is that I was completely burned out on all the half-square triangles (HST) that were involved. Every one of the sampler blocks, had many HST in them. By the time I got to the end, I just couldn't do anymore... but, now knowing that I only have one block to do, and it's been on my UFO pile for at least a year, it might give me the incentive to push forward and get it done! I also have some charity quilts to do. I need a couple weeks of no interruptions... maybe that would help!

It is still snowing here in PA... nothing serious, just enough to cover the roads and make them slippery. A lot of people are looking forward to Spring... For me...I'll enjoy the snow for now, and be happy when Spring finally arrives in it's given time. I am not rushing it to come. I hate it when it warms up early and then reverts back to winter. That makes the cold seem harder to take. But, of course, no one (except God) has control over that! I'll take what we get, and make the best of it!

OK.... I am going to go watch some TV since I can't sleep at this hour (Thursday, 2 AM). Hopefully, I'll get tired soon! It will be time for the day to start when I finally get to bed! Oh well! Sleeping in doesn't sound like a bad idea at all!

Happy Stitching...

Hi All! It is a quiet weather day, at present... don't know what Mother Nature has is store for us later today, or even into the week. I have been too busy with Cody, (our 4 year old grandson), church activities and family birthday celebrations these past 5 days... I was bummed I didn't make it to church yesterday, as my back was having it's normal fits with painful spasms... but today, seems to be a bit better and not so painful to move.

I am hoping to get to the sewing room a little today. I have all 5 of the block rows assembled... now to assemble the rows into the flimsie... My niece is getting quite anxious for her quilt. I am quite anxious for it to be DONE & GONE!! I want to start on something different for a change. I'll even settle for cleaning up my sewing room! But, I have a ton of things to do and make.

So... in closing, I'll just hope that you all have a great sewing week ahead of you!! And, I'll work on the same thing for me! As far as I know, it will be a quiet week for me, other than errands to do tomorrow

This is great... we are getting snow here in the east... It is blustery due to the wind... and I recommend that if you don't need to go anywhere... by ALL means... STAY HOME! Tomorrow is another day!

Me, I'm going up to the sewing room. Yes... still working on the king-size scrappy quilt... I am really ready for this one to be done! I have worked on it long enough.

Went to the doctors this morning, and both of us are fine. Dennis' cholesterol went up some more... I guess I'm going to force him to eat healthier and exercise more. That's a good one coming from me... I can't do much in the way of exercising myself due to my back... but I can cheer him on! But, I am cooking healthier. I downloaded a bunch of recipes from www.eatbetteramerica.com, and what I have cooked so far is very tasty! I can't remember if I had said before in a previous posting, that I went back to Weight Watchers also. I  had picked up 10 pounds that I want to get rid of! That came because of the very stressful past year and not eating properly. Now that things are getting better in the stress area, that weight is coming OFF!! I REFUSE to go & buy new clothes at a larger size!

Well... I am wasting good sewing time... so, I am going to close for now.

Let it SNOW!!!

I am just going to take a few minutes to say hello to all who may be reading this today. I do hope you are having a great Monday!

Today, on my to-do list is the never-ending laundry, and to be in my sewing room sewing in between the laundry loads. I have a lot to do in the sewing room. I buy kits at a friends quilt shop, and got to looking around, and realized just how many I have accumulated!! GEEZ!!! There is a thing of having too much... I think I am almost there!!

I continue to work on the quilt for my niece... I am hoping to GET IT DONE today!!  I will post pictures once I get the flimsie (top) together. Then, I think I am going to knot it because of it's size. I will have to make a trip to Joann's for Warm-n-Natural. At least that won't fall apart when it is washed, and will be just fine with knotting the quilt.

I am going to layer a charity quilt, and machine quilt it on my DSM. I was supposed to have it done by January 31st... OOPS!!

I am also going to concentrate on getting my UFO list done for 2010. I clean out my sewing room, writing down all the things that is started, etc... Then, as I complete them, they get crossed off. I know I have about 10 items that I have been carrying over for the last couple of years... NOT GOOD! I need to work on those first, or give them away to be finished by someone else!!

I need to be thinking of what items I will be making to enter into the local county fair come late July. It sounds like I am wishing my spring/summer away already, and it is not even here yet!

We got about 16 inches of snow last week in that snowstorm the swept over the east coast. I am loving it! I guess we are to get more snow this week, but I haven't heard of any predictions of how many inches yet. It can snow until the end of February... then I want sunshine & heat... and lots of it!

I'll close for now... being here is keeping me away from the things I need to do!

OK... I don't get into all the hipe with the groundhog stuff... but, I am glad that Spring is around the corner... Though, I am still waiting for the big snowstorm! You know how I love the snow! Will we get one a real nor-easter this year?? Who Knows?? But, I'll be looking for snow until the end of February... after that, I don't want to see it again until December 1st!

I'll be sewing tomorrow. Dennis has to be out of town for the day. Maybe I can get that quilt together of Gina & Kirk's, and even work on the charity one, too. I really need to get that one finished and out of here!!

January has come & gone, and I have yet to go through my sewing room to write down all my UFO's. I do this every year. Well obviously, not this year! That is a must do. Maybe I can find a PIG or 2 to send to someone else to finish... That would be nice... to have it OFF my UFO list!

It's Bedtime... Goodnight!
