Well, our son, has left the area to move to Oregon. Right now, he is driving through Nebraska. He does have a job once he gets there, which is a true blessing from God, especially in these struggling economic times. But, I will definitely miss him, but I know this is what he wants to do. He has no girlfriend or wife, so, this is the time to go and do his exploring.

I am babysitting our grandson for the rest of the week. His daycare has had 3 cases of Bacterial Meningitis since Monday. Cody has been to the ER, has been examined by the doctor and received a antibiotic shot for the strain of bacteria involved. So far, he has no symptoms, but, Jennifer is not going to send him back to school for a while. He is still napping right now, the little guy is tired!

My niece is in labor as we speak, so soon, there will be another family member to spoil. Her name (the baby) is Myleigh. I can't wait to see her and get my hands on her. I love babies!

Well, I am in the midst of cooking supper. I was just taking a break, but, I need to finish it now. So, gotta go!

Have a great day!

WOW!!! What a wonderful morning!!!

I have spent the last hour and a half, out on the front porch, just soaking in all of God's many, many blessings He has to offer. The green grass, the flowers, the sunshine. His many creatures like the birds singing and watching them gather twigs and grass for their nest's under construction. Woodpeckers hammering away in the not so distant trees. The squirrels chirping and leaping from branch to branch, or scurrying from place to place on the ground. The pesky groundhog was even making his rounds, scoping out new territory. As I set there, reading my Bible and drinking my tea, the scenes around me were very beautiful to absorb. What an AWESOME God we have! I pray that the day ahead, brings many opportunities for me to spread the word of His many blessings and that I may share His love & mercy with all those I may meet.

Take time today, to look around where ever you are, and take in God's wonderful creation! Don't forget to thank Him!

Have a GREAT day!

I am sure this title heading has you all a bit confused... But, before I explain that, I want to say it has been a while since I have blogged... for those of you who follow my blog to catch up with me & what I am doing, or those of you who just drop in from time to time, you probably thought I had left the country! Well, in all reality, we did not get that far, but we did 'get out of Dodge!' (Can you tell I like Gunsmoke?) Anyway, we took a trip to beautiful Delaware. Where at this time of year, things are green, daffodils, tulips, and hyacinths, azaelias, etc. are blooming. And, there were even flower buds on the Lilac bushes! Here, in central PA, we are about 2 weeks behind Delaware, in these respects, so believe me, having 'Spring Fever' as I have had since March 1st... I was ready to see green & flowers! It was nice 'previewing the coming attractions'.

Being in Delaware was not a vacation of sorts... no sight-seeing or anything like that. It was just a time away. The Lent Season and Easter is a very busy time within the Church. Yes, it keeps Dennis busier than me, since he is the preacher, but, I I am still involved to some extent. Many services to plan or attend as well as keeping up with his Seminary studies. That is why we go to Delaware. We stay at a friends home, (no one lives there at the present time), but it is a home away from home. All we need to do is bring food, our clothes and move in. Everything else is there. I was going to say that Dennis is a type of person where I have to get him away in order for him to do his schoolwork, but, I think that just goes along with being a preacher in general. Or anyone for that matter. When you are at home, other things creep into your day, plans or schedules  get shifted because something else comes up, the phone rings constantly, or someone drops by wanting to talk or they need you to do something, etc. All kinds of scenarios can become distractions, and this happens in all walks of life. In Delaware, we have none of these distractions, so Dennis can concentrate wholly on his schoolwork. What do I do besides staring at the four walls while he studies??? Hence, the title heading... S-R-S-R-S... I Sew for a while, then Rest, Sew some more, then Relax, then back to Sewing, and SEW on. (I just had to add that little pun in!) It is quite nice and I really like it. I pack up several projects, sewing machine & supplies, and I am ready to go! During this time away, I finished my project I learned at the class I took at the Lancaster Quilt Show. This item, which is a wall hanging, I have decided to give to my daughter for Mother's Day. She is a great Mom to our Grandson Cody, and she deserves a gift for that from me for a change, instead of me always getting a gift from her. Yes, she is not my Mom... but, does it really matter? I think not. The other project was that I started a new quilt top, using 1930 reproductions fabrics. This quilt will be for our bed! Yes, you read that correctly... this quilt will live at OUR house! I am using the 'Buzz Saw' Block for this, and I can't wait to get back to it and get it done! My friend Judy & I started collecting 1930 Repro fabric several years ago. Judy has her top done, or it is very close. She has been after me to get busy, and to use the Repro fabrics, so she'll be pleased. This was a time consuming project, so I didn't even get the chance to get my third project (quilt top) that I took to  finish, out of the suitcase. I am not complaining though. For Dennis & I... it was a very productive time away, as well as refreshing.

As you may know, Cody is now 3. While we were away, I bought several cards, ('Thinking of You & 'Just Because' type cards), that we could send him while we were away. Cody loves getting mail! We dropped one in the mail, like every other day. I missed my little guy! But, my downfall was when I called & talked with him on Sunday! Then, I REALLY missed him! I was ready to head for home after that! Though, Dennis kept assuring me that we would go home... on TUESDAY! What a nice guy, right? But, I survived.

We had to go pick up the dogs upon arriving home... Jennifer, Jon & Cody were my dog-sitters. So when we picked up the dogs, we picked up Cody also, bringing him home with us! I enjoyed that quite a bit. Though, I always love having my boy here. Little people are so fun to be around. So, energetic, loving, imaginative, inquisitive, happy-go-lucky attitudes... just nice, pleasant folks to have around. I always said when my kids were that age, that I wanted to freeze them, to keep them as toddlers/preschoolers forever! But, I never found a way to do that, at least 'legally'... so, they grew up and now those little pleasures only exist in my memories. But, they were and remain happy times in my life.

I had better close for now. We have church tomorrow, etc. So, it will be busy till about 2 PM. Then, since the weather is very warm, at least right now, I am going to the porch, to set on my glider & I'll be watching the world go by, as I relax and enjoy God's creation, coming back to life, after a long winter's nap! It will be a perfect day!

God's Peace to all of you!

I hope your Easter day was a very memorable time with family and dinners... but most especially, I hope you had a special time put aside to thank our Jesus Christ for what He did for us. Our Sunday began with Sunrise Services at 6:30 AM, then a quiet day with our kids, and grandson. This was a first for us to have so few for dinner, but it was a great day, just the same. Cody enjoyed hunting the Easter Eggs all by himself, and we enjoyed following him around and watching his excited expressions & gestures as he found them. I wish I had a video camera. It was priceless.

Well, I need to get busy here. We have many things to do this morning. I hope all of you have a great day, and a very nice week. I looked at the 10 day forecast, and it looks like Spring is going to come after all. Sure, we are to have showers mixed in, too, but it's April!

The sunshine was out, the temps were up... it was a gorgeous day! The rain is to return tomorrow, but, you know what they say... 'April showers bring May flowers!'... so, I will not complain. Tomorrow, we have an appointment with the tax people... What a dreaded day! It's depressing, really.  But, we will survive... probably much poorer, but we will survive!

We went to church tonight (Maundy Thursday) and it is always a very special & touching service, when you let yourself think about it. What Jesus went through for us... very humbling... the question is, "what are we doing or going to do for Him?" Think about it... Pray about it...

No sewing is getting done here lately... Well, I did finish the Lancaster class project, at least the star part. I still need to do the borders, etc. I think I wrote about that yesterday... sorry for any repeating! But, other than that, no sewing. I am looking forward to my retreat week coming up, (actually about 10 days!). I will take about 3 projects with me, maybe 4. I would like to take my Lancaster project, my 30 Repro's project, that I have not even started. Everything for that is in a plastic bag. I just need to pick a pattern/block I will do. I will probably take my BOM project (UFO). I think I have 1 or 2 blocks to go, along with the borders for that. Again, everything is in a bag... That project had a lot of HST (Half Square Triangles), and I got so tired of doing them that I quit at the end.  And, I'll take another project... not sure which one... maybe my Row Quilt (UFO). I have procrastinated on that one again! I so want it done!

OK... can't think of anything else to write right now, so I am off to bed.

Today, I spent in the house. The temps are still in the 30's and with the wind, it feels colder yet. I am waiting for the heat wave! I watched the news and they are talking about the 50's toward the end of the week. Though, I'd be happier at 70's, but, I am not complaining.

We sat today to work on our tax paperwork... YUCK! I think I'd rather have a tooth pulled! But, we are on the down side to being done... I am grateful for that! I am glad the tax season comes only once per year!

Brooke had her 3rd heart biopsy done today. I have not heard any reports as yet. The results usually take a day or two to get back. Sis is going down tomorrow to visit. I can't go as I have not been feeling well, and I am not taking any germs to Brooke! Besides, it is Holy Week, and it is busy in the church this time of year. Maybe in a couple of weeks I can scoot down.

On the topic of sewing... I finished the center of the class project from Lancaster. I need to add the borders & corner stones. But, it was fun to do, and the ladies at guild want me to teach them how to do it. I'd prefer getting the instructor here from Lancaster... that way, I'd be sure it was taught correctly! Besides, making it once, does not make me a pro at it! I enjoyed the instructor, Nancy Johnson-Screbro. She is very good at what she does. She has published several books, and is in the process of doing another one. I am not sure when it will be released, and she wasn't allowed to say much about it.

Well, I am headed upstairs. Goodnight to ALL!

Yup... the Snow is back! YUCK! It is Spring, so at least it won't stay very long! My idea of when to have snow is from December 1st through the end of February... none before, and definitely, none after... but, that is one thing none of us can control, so I guess we should just suck it up and wait it out...

I did get to the quilt show, but, it was very hard on me. So, I will not be making plans for any more in the near future. But, we did see some very beautiful quilts, and bought some more Cherrywood fabric... and if you don't know what that is, check them out online... www.cherrywoodfabrics.com Their dyed fabric is out-of-this-world! So beautiful! It is 100 % cotton, but it looks like suede. Very nice! I was bummed to not visit the Electric Quilt booth, as they were not there this year. I was so looking forward to upgrading my EQ5 to the new & improved EQ6... I guess I'll have to do it online instead. There were several vendors that were missing from what I could remember from years past, but then, there were new ones, too. The crowds were there, providing their answer to the economy stimulus plan! We checked out a few new gadgets, but we did not buy them. We just stored the info for future use.

I am going to close for now. I have a bit of a cold/flu, I'm not sure what... but, I'm headed to bed. Tomorrow, I will be back at getting the taxes in order... our appointment for that is coming up fast! I do so dispise this time of year! I wish I had money to hire an accountant to do all of this stuff! I'd pay to not have this headache!

Brooke Update... she is experiencing some arrythmia's in her heart rythm, and was transferred back to CICU (Cardiac ICU) for a time. She is now back to the regular Cardiac wing, and is happy about that. Tomorrow, she will be going for yet another (#3) heart biopsy, where they will check for rejection of the new heart. Say a prayer for her! We are unsure when she might be allowed to come home, but right now, it won't be before May 1st.

Have a great night!
