It's a lazy Sunday afternoon at our house. Church, then lunch... and now, we are just not doing much of anything. Me, I am getting a little game playing done on Facebook, working on things with my online group (stashbusters.com), and really debating on whether to go watch a movie, take a nap or go to the sewing room would be better for me today. I can't decide. DH just informed me that he wants to try to submit all his year-end reports, which has to be done online... so, guess who gets to type all that mess! You got it... ME! GRRRRRRR! So, I guess the movie, nap or sewing will have to wait!

I worked on the string quilt yesterday... I have all the 35 blocks done and 2 rows put together. Three rows to go, then, I can start putting them together. When I get the top together, I'll post a picture. I am still debating on trying to machine it on my DSM... it's a king-size, so that is a lot of fabric to handle... we'll see. Maybe, I'll go & get warm & natural for the batting, then, just tie the quilt or tack it with the machine. I need to decide soon!

Well, better go & get at these reports... this is NOT my favorite thing to do!

I am soooooooooooooooo lovin' that! Though, we only got enough snow to cover the ground, it is enough to put the feel of winter back in the air. The temps have dropped, not bad though... it's about 28 degrees here. The wind is blowing, so that makes it feel a little colder. But, I do not have to leave the house until this late afternoon/evening, so, I am good. I am going to hopefully make it to the sewing room today, and work on some more blocks.

OK... not much to talk about now, so... Have a great day ALL!!

Yup... a good day to stay inside, that is for sure! So far today, I have went to church (my niece came & went with me), which she stayed for lunch so we got to visit a bit and catch up. And, I have been playing on the computer updating one thing or another, and checking emails. Dennis suggested we go for ice cream, then went in, laid on the couch and went to sleep... so much for ice cream... Oh well... I really don't need it... I am into my first week of weight watchers, (my jeans used to be held up with a belt... unfortunately, that is no longer the case!)... I am a lifetime member of WW, having worked hard in obtaining my goal weight about 8 years ago. So, I did good in maintaining it, but the last year with taking care of Mom & Pop, etc., instead of taking care of me, has caught up with me and brought with it 10 pounds! So, I am on a mission to get rid of that. I refuse to go & buy larger clothes!

Yesterday, I had some time in the sewing room. I am still working on a scrappy quilt for my Niece & Kirk. I have 20 of the 35 needed blocks done, so at least I am past the halfway mark. I will be cutting the sashing once the blocks are done. I am wondering if I can machine quilt it on my DSM. I am new at that, and this will be King-sized... I will have to move the machine to the dining room table if I decide to go for it! There will definitely be a lot of pins to baste it needed! I like a machine quilted quilt... Looks nicer on the beds than a tied quilt. We'll see.

OK... better go do some errands and get back here. I do not want to be out in this cold/rainy weather at all! I'd rather be either in my sewing room working on a quilt, or snuggled under one while watching TV/movies... Either works for me!

Have a great day!

Happy Stitching!

I have added a new page here on my website... it features the Fabric Postcards that I have become addicted to making for my online swap groups and receiving them is just awesome! I received 2 of them today, actually! I love them both! Just go to my toolbar above... over on the right you'll see the word MORE... Move your cursor and the Postcard page will drop down... Go check out the Postcards I have made & received so far! They are absolutely beautiful! They are truly little pieces of art! Each quite unique in their own special way! CHECK IT OUT!!

BRRRRRRRR... it is cold outside! But, it is January and that is what is expected in my neck of the woods. I don't dare complain, because I know that it is most likely colder somewhere else in the world. They might consider this a 'heat-wave'!!!

I am working on the Postcard Swap I have signed up for with my online group. I am also working on Gina's quilt top. I think I may have about a dozen or so (I need 35) completed... so, I am getting there. Cody was here on Friday evening & Saturday, and I do not go to my sewing room while he is here. I am too busy loving & playing with my boy! We had a great time, by the way! Can't wait until next Friday when we can do it again!

I think I will be going into the sewing room this week to do my yearly inventory... I see what UFO's I have, and list them on a tablet... Kits I have bought and list them as well... not to mention projects I want to do or have together (PIGs) on my things to do pile. I list these, too. Then, I'll pick something off the UFO list and get busy. I want to make my UFO list as short as possible this year... my sewing room is going to explode if I don't!!!

Well, time to get ready for church! Hope everyone has a great day!!!

I love the snow... but, for those of you who have to travel in it... I'm praying for you!

We did have doctors appts. this morning... but, the office called and rescheduled them... I don't know why, but, I hope our doctor is OK!

So, I think I'll go & do some sewing this morning... we will be going to get Cody later... but, I have some time now to make some more string blocks for Gina & Kirk's quilt. I need 35 blocks... I was hoping to do like 5 or 6 per day... but, the last 2 days, I haven't been able to get to the sewing room, so... that plan went down the tubes real fast! But, I have a bunch of blocks in process... so, I can finish them up maybe by noon... then, I'll be back on track. I will be knotting this quilt... with it being king-size... I am not sure I want to tackle that to machine quilt on my DSM... may be a bit too much to handle for a beginner in that area. Who knows... maybe I'll get brave  ;-}

I can't wait for Cody to come... I am sure he'll want outside to play in the snow! I'll go out with him to watch...

Better get to the s

The New Year has begun... what is on your goal list for this year?? I have thought about it a little... I am not sure what I'd like to accomplish for the year 2010. Sure, I have dreams and wishes... but, I am trying to prioritize and get things in prospective. I'll pray & think about it some more... I am confident that God will guide me in the direction He sees fit for me to travel.

I have begun another quilt... my niece, Gina, has been asking for a couple of years now for a king sized quilt. Yes, she has a twin sized that I gave her for her high school graduation, but, that doesn't hardly even touch covering a king sized bed! I am doing a scrappy string quilt. I estimated I need 35 blocks. I have 6-1/2 of them done... so, I have a ways to go. I love doing strings blocks though... and I really need to use up some scraps out of the drawer. I could probably make at least 10 of them with what I have cut... most likely more than that! These blocks I am doing on a rectangle foundation, so the finished block will be like a diamond. Then, I will put black sashing around that... at least, that is the color I am leaning toward right now. Black helps to frame all the different colors in the scrappy quilts. Maybe if I could find a dark solid green... I'll have to check out the Kona cottons.

Well, have to run out in this bitter cold to deliver some food. A friend passed away last night... so, I am taking some things in for the family. I am warming up the car as I type this blog entry... BRRRRRRR!!! And, the wind is probably putting the temps down to about zero or below on the 'wind chill factor'.

Happy New Year to ALL!! May God bless you throughout 2010!
